Service Description

Fun evening sailing sessions between April and August from ages 12 and up. There will be groups with a mix of abilities from complete beginners to those wanting to hone their skills. The splits will depend on interest and numbers but typically we will split into developing skills in • Seamanship • Racing • Assistant Instructor (Over 14) You don't need to have any previous sailing experience but we recommend that complete beginners also sign up for a YSS1 course scheduled in May as this will give them a boost in sailing time and help progress their season. Training Details: 1. 20th April - Introduction evening (Shore Based) 2. 27th April to 24th August - Evening Sailing (Excluding 29th June & 3rd Aug) 3. Start Time 18:15 In Sailing Kit 4. Finish Time 20:30 The LSTA has some wetsuits and buoyancy aids that can be used during the evening sessions but if you are able to get some of your own equipment it can save time and make things easier. There is often a kit swap at the start of the season where kit that has been grown out of gets passed down. The split between Monday and Thursday will be porous so if your cadet is close to the split, or to keep with friends / siblings please message so we can work out the best option. Booking Requirements: 1. The participant MUST be a Largs Sailing Club member (either as a junior or part of a family membership) 1. You can join or renew your membership subscription at https://www.webcollect.org.uk/largssc 2. These are active sessions and participants will be in the water at some point. If your child is a non or weak swimmer please contact us to discuss any additional requirements to ensure they have a safe and fun experiance. 3. Cadets 12 and older are recommended to book the Monday Cadet session, however this is not an absolute rule so if you would prefer a different evening to keep with friends or siblings then please contact us to discuss.
