Service Description

Fun evening sailing sessions between April and August for ages 8 to 12. There will be several groups split by experience and age from complete beginners to those wanting to hone their skills. Our sessions are focussed around having a fun introduction to sailing. We use a mixture of single handed boats, and larger boats with a few cadets and an instructor on board. You don't need to have any previous sailing experience but we recommend that complete beginners also sign up for one of the the YSS1 start sailing courses we are running as this will give them a boost in sailing time and help progress their season. Training Details: 23rd April - Introduction evening (Shore Based) 30th April to 27th August - (Excluding 25th June & 6th August) Evening Sailing Start Time 18:15 In Sailing Kit Finish Time 20:30 The LSTA has some wetsuits and buoyancy aids that can be used during the evening sessions but if you are able to get some of your own equipment it can save time and make things easier. There is often a kit swap at the start of the season where kit that has been grown out of gets passed down. Booking Requirements: The participant MUST be a Largs Sailing Club member (either as a junior or part of a family membership) You can join or renew your membership subscription at https://www.webcollect.org.uk/largssc All Cadets should be 8 years and over and be confident in the water. If they are unable to swim unaided 50m please let us know so we can confirm any additional safety requirements. Cadets 12 and older are recommended to book the Monday Cadet session, however this is not an absolute rule. So if your cadet is close to the split, or to keep with friends / siblings please message so we can work out the best option. The transition between Primary and Secondary school is a good guide.
