Service Description

The sessions follow the RYA National Sailing Scheme syllabus, with sailors split into groups based on experience so both beginners and more confident sailors are supported appropriately. Whether you're stepping into a boat for the first time or looking to consolidate what you already know, the focus is on enjoyable, practical sailing at a comfortable pace. Sessions are weather dependent, but every evening is structured to be worthwhile. In suitable conditions, sailors will be on the water developing boat handling, manoeuvres, capsize recovery and man-overboard skills. In no-wind or strong-wind conditions, sessions will be shore-based, focusing on practical learning such as ropework, points of sail, passage planning, and understanding tides around Largs and the wider area. This variety allows sailors to build experience across a wide range of conditions and work steadily through their logbooks, even when the weather doesn't allow for full sailing sessions. These are active sessions and your legs will get wet when launching, and you may sometimes end up in the water. If you are a non-swimmer or have any mobility concerns, please contact us in advance so we can ensure the sessions are safe and enjoyable for you. Many sailors use Tuesday evenings as a stepping stone into further training, casual sailing, or wider club activity - but participation, learning and enjoyment are always the priority."
